SAJAN MISTRY
DESIGN
CREATE
INNOVATE
I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and have been designing and developing products on a personal and professional basis for the past 10 years. My strengths lie in thoroughly understanding problems and target user profiles, rapidly iterating prototypes, and effectively working with cross-functional teams to deliver timely results. I am deeply passionate about designing and developing products from conception to market.
I am very much a kinesthetic learner, in that I learn by doing. I'm a strong believer that theory can only take you so far. Throughout my numerous design projects, I always try to push the envelope and learn at least one new skill. The skills I've picked up so far are:
Sketching, Ideation, Brainstorming
Parts/Structural Prototyping
3D printing
CAD (3D, 2D)
Welding (ARC/MIG - Novice)
Woodworking, Metalworking
Post-processing (sanding, painting, texturing) for engineering prototypes
Electronics Prototyping
Basic Circuitry/Breadboarding
Battery Spot Welding
Soldering (SMD and Thru- Hole)
Arduino Programming (Learning)
Technical Skills
Ideation/Iteration
Prototyping
CAD (Autodesk Inventor)
3D printing
Thermodynamic Analysis
Heat Transfer Analysis
Fluid Mechanics
Static and Dynamic Structural Analysis (ANSYS)
Electrical Analysis
Injection Molding
Design for Manufacturing/Assembly
Material selection (plastics)
Digital Product Development
Figma
Wireframing
Mockups
Front End Development
HTML, CSS (Learning)
Soft Skills
Teamworking
Leadership
Project Planning and Execution
Conflict Resolution
Cross-Functional Collaboration
I am fortunate to have been able to work on lots of design/development projects on my own, through research at Virginia Tech, and professionally at TTI- RYOBI.
Through all of these endeavors, I've gained excellent technical experience, but also business development, and collaborative experiences. I've started and sustained my own business, and also taken on and grown categories at a developed business. I am a self-starter, willing to learn and adapt to deliver results. I do not know everything, but I am always eager to learn.
I've been passionately designing and developing my ideas into products since I was 14 years old. I love solving problems, pushing boundaries, and chasing the impossible.
When I'm not working, I love to be active. I recently spent nearly three years training for my first 100 mile run (March 2023), of which I completed in 32 hours and 12 minutes! I am currently working towards a full Ironman Triathalon!
Here are a few words from people I've worked with
